Echography

Echography is an examination technique based on the emission of ultrasound (or ultrasonic waves). These waves are emitted by a probe, which serves as a transmitter and receiver. Thanks to computer processing it is possible to see and analyze images of the inside of the body (organs, muscles, tendons, etc.). This examination is painless, fast and safe. There is no X-ray emission.

Principle of the examination

The skin is coated with a gel that will allow the optimal transmission of ultrasound. The ultrasound probe is placed on the skin and moved to the part of the body to be studied. The images that appear on the screen in real time make it possible to see the organs to be examined in motion. For example: a breast, abdomen, thyroid, etc.

Equipment

Our devices use ultra-high frequency probes that allow to obtain very precise images.

Preparation

Upper abdominal echography : in this case, you must fast (do not eat, do not drink, do not smoke) for 4 hours before the examination. You can take your usual medications normally.
Echography of the small pelvis (gynecological) and / or urinary tract : in this case, you must present with a full bladder. For this, you are advised to drink 1 liter of water 1 hour before the examination, without urinating.

Interventional treatment under ultrasound

In many cases, ultrasound can be very useful to guide interventional treatment such as joint, peri-articular, tendon or peri-tendon infiltrations.

Conduct of the examination

You are taken care of by a member of the medical team who accompanies you in the examination room. You are lying on an examination table near the ultrasound machine.
The exam lasts between 10 to 30 minutes maximum.

Contraindication

There are no contraindications to this examination. It is even carried out in pregnant women.
